BMW Group joins Avanci 5G connected car licensing program

The automotive IoT patent licensing platform Avanci announced that Mercedes-Benz had become the first licensee of Avanci 5G, and it is now confirmed that the BMW Group has also joined the project.

The BMW Group has signed a license agreement for the Avanci 5G connected car, which covers the group’s three major brands: BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce.

Meanwhile, three licensees, including Deutsche Telekom, have also joined the new connected vehicle licensing scheme, bringing the number of licensees to 61 from 58.

Currently, more than 80 car brands covered by Avanci 4G car licenses have more than 130 million intelligent connected cars on the world’s roads.
