Better thermal design makes iPhone 14 Pro Max charge faster and more efficiently

0

Starting with the iPhone 12 series launched in 2020, Apple introduced the MagSafe magnetic charging method on the mobile phone. In the latest video, the foreign YouTube channel ChargerLAB uses the same MagSafe charger to charge the iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro Max, and observes whether Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro Max has wireless charging improvements through actual measurement and comparison.

Although MagSafe technology hasn’t improved much since the release of the iPhone 12 series. However, ChargerLAB found in the actual measurement comparison that the iPhone 14 Pro Max can make MagSafe charging more efficient.

ChargerLAB measures the amount of power transferred during charging, power peaks, and the time it takes to fully charge the device. While the changes are modest, there are some interesting differences between the results obtained for the iPhone 14 Pro Max versus the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max maintains a charging speed between 16W and 19W for longer than the iPhone 13 Pro Max. After 44 minutes of charging, the charging speed of the iPhone 13 Pro Max using the MagSafe Charger dropped significantly, while it took 64 minutes for the iPhone 14 Pro Max to do this.

After the test, the iPhone 14 Pro Max took 2 hours and 18 minutes to fully charge, while the iPhone 13 Pro Max took 2 hours and 26 minutes. And the iPhone 14 Pro Max can be charged to 50% in a shorter time.

ChargerLAB believes that the main reason for the difference in results is that Apple has improved the cooling system of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro series to allow them to run at a lower temperature and improve the charging efficiency of MagSafe.
