Chinese and U.S. tech giants are racing to adopt artificial intelligence, according to Bloomberg. Chinese search giant Baidu is planning to launch an artificial intelligence chatbot service similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, people familiar with the matter said.

The person familiar with the matter, who asked not to be named, said Baidu plans to launch a ChatGPT-style app in March, initially embedding it in its main search service. The tool, whose name has yet to be determined, will allow users to get conversational search results similar to those of OpenAI’s popular platform.

On November 30, 2022, OpenAI, an artificial intelligence research lab, released ChatGPT, a new chatbot model, an artificial intelligence technology-powered natural language processing tool designed to mimic human-like conversations based on user prompts.

At the time of writing, Baidu’s Hong Kong shares were up over 4% at HK$142.4, with a total market value of HK$393.9 billion (currently about RMB 340.724 billion).
