Azure and Shell’s first collaborative charging station comes online in Tongan, Xiamen

Following the announcement of the partnership on November 25 last year, the first joint charging station between Azure and Shell, the Xiamen Tongan Shell Station, went live on August 1.

According to the official introduction, the station is the 1,048th exchange station and the 1,777th charging station in China, with a second generation exchange station and two 180kW supercharging piles. The opening of the Shell charging station in Tongan, Xiamen marks the official start of the cooperation between Azera and Shell in the field of electric vehicle energy.

On November 25, 2021, Azera announced the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement with Shell Group to cooperate in the field of electric vehicle energy on a global scale.

According to the agreement, Azera and Shell will jointly promote the construction and operation of charging and switching facilities. In China, the two companies will build 100 stations by 2025, and in Europe, they plan to start the construction and operation of pilot stations in 2022. As for charging facilities, Shell’s European charging network will be open to Azera customers.

Meanwhile, the two companies are discussing cooperation on battery asset companies, fleet management, membership system, home charger service, advanced technology development for charging equipment, and cooperation on charging facilities in China.

In addition, Azera announced that its NIO App is now available in Germany, Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands.
