Audio-Technica today announced the world’s first headphones for live streaming, the ATH-M50xSTS and ATH-M50xSTS-USB.

The ATH-M50xSTS and ATH-M50xSTS-USB are based on the ATH-M50x professional monitor headphones and are equipped with 20 series microphones to provide studio-quality sound for users and listeners on the receiving end.

Featuring 45mm drivers, the headphones are claimed to deliver excellent clarity across the extended frequency range with deep, accurate bass. The headphones come with two different sets of ear cups: the M50x ear cups, which emphasize sound quality and noise isolation, and the mesh faux leather ear cups, which emphasize breathability and comfort.

The headphones’ microphone claims to capture studio-quality vocal effects without background noise and can be quickly muted by lifting the microphone upward.

The Audio-Technica ATH-M50xSTS comes with a 2 m (6.6′) cable with 3.5 mm (1/8″) headphone input (6.3 mm (1/4″) adapter) and XLR microphone output.

The ATH-M50xSTS-USB uses a 2 m (6.6′) cable with USB-A for plug-and-play use with PCs and Macs. In addition, the ATH-M50xSTS-USB is equipped with an A/D converter with a sampling rate of up to 24-bit / 96kHz, and also supports a side-tone function, allowing the headphone wearer to hear his or her own voice.

The ATH-M50xSTS has a suggested retail price of $199 (currently about RMB 1369) and the ATH-M50xSTS-USB has a suggested retail price of $229 (currently about RMB 1576).
