Audi to launch 20 models by 2025, half of which will be electric

Audi announced that it will launch 20 new vehicles by 2025, half of which will be electric, while announcing that it will launch only new electric vehicles worldwide starting in 2026.

Audi CEO Markus Dussmann made the announcement at the company’s annual meeting, calling it “the biggest product innovation program in our history.

By 2025, we will have launched around 20 new models, more than 10 of which will be purely electric,” Dussmann said. We have set the course for 100 percent electric. By 2027, we want to offer an all-electric vehicle in every core market segment.”

The plan will start with the Audi Q6 E-tron, an SUV already confirmed for launch at the end of this year, the first car to use the GM PPE platform, and the first electric car to be produced at Audi’s Ingolstadt plant. Audi also confirmed an entry-level electric car that will be positioned below the Audi Q4 E-tron and comparable in size to the Audi A3.

Dussmann also reiterated Audi’s plan to end production of internal combustion engine vehicles in 2033 — seven years after the last new model is introduced — and to phase out its internal combustion engine vehicles while expanding its electric vehicle lineup, with the company aiming for net zero emissions by 2050.

Sales of purely electric vehicles are up 44 percent year-over-year (in 2022),” Dussmann said. The very high demand for our Audi Q4 E-tron, Audi E-tron GT and Audi E-tron models proves that we are on the right path towards electrification.” Dussmann added: “Demand for electric mobility remains high. in January and February 2023, worldwide, we increased sales of purely electric vehicles by almost 40 percent compared to the same period last year.”
