Asus small screen flagship Zenfone 9 kernel code open source, support unlock bootloader

The Asus Zenfone 9 small-screen flagship phone was officially released on July 28, powered by Snapdragon 8 + Gen1 processor and equipped with a 5.9-inch small screen, priced from about 5,500 yuan.

The Asus Zenfone 9 measures 146.6 x 68.2 x 9.5mm and weighs 169g. It is claimed to be one of the smallest Android flagships and comes pre-installed with Android 12, which will receive two years of OS version updates and at least two years of security patches. It is powered by Snapdragon 8 + Gen 1 processor and replaces the heatpipe of the previous generation with an even thermal plate, has a 4300mAh battery and supports 30W fast charging.

It features a 5.9-inch 120Hz Samsung AMOLED display with 800 nits peak brightness, a polycarbonate back cover covered with Corning Gorilla Victus glass on the front, an aluminum alloy center frame, and IP68 dust and water resistance.

In terms of imaging, the camera features a 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera + 12MP IMX363 ultra-wide angle at the rear and a 12MP IMX663 perforated lens at the top left corner at the front.

The audio side of the device is also a bit more worked on, with a 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo dual speakers, each with a Qualcomm Aqstic amplifier (WSA8835). Wireless audio supports Snapdragon Sound, aptX HD and Adaptive, as well as LDAC and AAC. users can also adjust audio using Dirac’s four audio styles and a 10-band equalizer.
