Asus held a press conference and announced its 2022 revenue figures.

In the PC and graphics card industry demand “freeze”, major manufacturers actively deal with inventory, resulting in a 67% drop in Asustek’s annual net profit. In addition, ASUS unexpectedly posted a loss of NT$3.823 billion in the fourth quarter of last year, or NT$5.1 per share.

Asustek’s 2022 annual brand revenue was NT$493.466 billion (currently about RMB111.523 billion), down 1.4% year-over-year, and gross margin was 12.8%, down 7.5 percentage points year-over-year; net profit was NT$14.691 billion (currently about RMB3.32 billion), down 67% year-over-year; annual net profit per share was NT$19.8, much lower than the NT$60 per share in 2021. Net income for the year was NT$19.8 per share, far below the NT$60 per share in 2021.

ASUS’ revenue for the fourth quarter of 2022 was NT$117.359 billion (currently approximately RMB26.523 billion), down 12% sequentially and 17% year-over-year; gross margin was 8.2%, down 3.4 percentage points sequentially and 11.4 percentage points year-over-year; net loss was NT$3.823 billion (currently approximately RMB864 million) compared to the previous quarter and the same period last year. Compared with the previous quarter and the same period last year, the net loss was NT$3.823 billion (currently about RMB864 million), or NT$5.1 per share.

ASUS confessed that the first quarter of this year will be the “bottom” of the year’s operations, and forecasts that losses may still occur in the first and second quarters of this year. At present, we can see the weak end demand, which reflects the weak consumer and enterprise consumption confidence, and the second is the dealers, the purchase and stocking volume is rapidly converging, in fact, on the over-conservative side, so it is a double pressure and risk.

ASUS estimates that revenue will continue to fall in the first quarter of this year, down 15% from a year ago, the bottom of the single quarter revenue. From a product perspective, ASUS expects its PC business to decline 15-20% in the first quarter, and its components business (boards, etc.) to decline 5-10% from a year ago.

Looking ahead to the second quarter, ASUS estimates revenue will grow 10% sequentially due to the expected improvement in overall end-user demand and sales partner adjustments, but a loss is still possible.
