Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max phone will be exclusively equipped with a periscope lens

According to Twitter @URedditor, the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max phone will be exclusively equipped with an upgraded telephoto lens and periscope technology.

Last month, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reiterated that the periscope lens will enable up to 5x to 6x optical zoom when taking photos with the rear camera on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, while the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max can zoom up to 3x. When taking pictures, the optical zoom does not suffer from blurring when zooming in like digital zoom does.

With a periscope lens, the light absorbed by the image sensor is bent or “folded,” allowing greater distance between camera elements within the compact design of a smartphone. The technology allows for enhanced optical zoom and is already used by some Android-branded phones from Samsung, Google and Huawei, with phones like the Google Pixel 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra offering 5x to 10x optical zoom.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 15 series of phones in September, including the iPhone 15 Pro Max (Note: Revelation or iPhone 15 Ultra), and other upcoming models include the iPhone 15 Standard Edition, iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro, these are not expected to come with a periscope lens.
