Apple’s iOS emulator touchHLE comes to Android, runs ancient apps

Earlier this year, developer Hikari no Yume created a tool called “touchHLE” that can emulate older iOS apps on Macs and Windows PCs. Based on this project, another developer called “ciciplusplus” has ported the iOS emulator project to the Android platform and made it open-source.

Users cannot run the full version of iOS with touchHLE, but it can emulate some very old iPhone apps and games, such as Super Monkey Ball and Crash Bandicoot: Nitro Kart 3D.

As you can see from the demo put up by ciciplusplus, the Android phone successfully runs the iOS game Super Monkey Ball, although there are still some issues with the scale of the graphics.

In addition, the touchHLE emulator can only run on Android devices with the AArch64 architecture, which is a 64-bit processor. ciciplusplus also says that the emulator only supports Super Monkey Ball version 1.02 at the moment, and the official version won’t be released anytime soon.
