September has been a very busy month for Apple. The company announced the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 8 and the new Apple Watch SE 2, as well as the Apple Watch Ultra and the new AirPods Pro 2 at its “Ultra Forward” event. On the software side, Apple released iOS 16, watchOS 9, and tvOS 16, among others.

All attention now turns to events in October and beyond, and there are rumors that Apple still has plenty planned through the end of 2022. Below, MacRumors has compiled a list of some of the major announcements Apple will be making later this year.

iPhone 14 Plus on sale
The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max went on sale on September 16, but the iPhone 14 Plus will go on sale on October 7. Apple did not provide a reason for the staggered launch, but iPhone 14 Plus is a new addition to the lineup and will be the first-ever non-Pro model with a large 6.7-inch display.

Key new features of the iPhone 14 Plus include crash detection, upcoming support for sending emergency text messages via satellite in the U.S. and Canada, longer battery life, an improved camera, and an easier-to-fix design with a removable rear glass panel. The device uses the same A15 bionic chip (with a quintuple-core GPU) as the iPhone 13 Pro.

The only differences between the iPhone 14 Plus and the smaller 6.1-inch iPhone 14 are display size, battery life, weight and price.

iOS 16.1 Real-time activity and more
Apple says iOS 16.1 will be released later this year. The software update will include several new features for iPhone, such as real-time activity support in third-party apps, clean energy charging options in the U.S., support for Matter accessories in the Home family app, Apple Fitness+ workouts without an Apple Watch, and more.

It’s unclear whether iOS 16.1 will include features like iCloud shared photo libraries and the new Freeform digital whiteboard app that Apple says will be available later this year. iOS 16.2 will likely be released this December and promises to bring all remaining features.

Apple Events in October
Apple often holds events in October to announce new iPad and Mac models, and this year may be no exception. But we’ll have to wait for Apple’s official announcement.

For the October event, rumors suggest that Apple plans to release new iPad Pro models with the M2 chip, a redesigned 10th generation entry-level iPad, and at least more Macs with the M2 family of chips. by the end of 2022, there will almost certainly be a new Mac Pro, and new MacBook Pro and Mac mini models could be released as well.

iPadOS 16 and macOS 13 Ventura Release Dates
Apple says iPad OS 16 and macOS 13 Ventura will be released to the public in October. Apple may announce the exact release date of the software update during or immediately after the October event.

iPadOS 16 was previously expected to be released in September along with iOS 16, but Apple pushed the software update back to October and may focus on improving the front-of-the-stage management feature after some users criticized the feature for its various shortcomings. Apple said the software update will be marked as iPadOS 16.1, not iPadOS 16.0.

Apple Music Classics
In August 2021, Apple announced the acquisition of the classical music service Primephonic. at the time, Apple said it planned to launch a dedicated classical music app in 2022 that would combine Primephonic’s user interface with additional features.

Few details are known about the dedicated Apple Music Classical app or when it will launch, but it should be available near the end of 2022.
