Apple Watch with micro-LED display and low-cost AirPods rumored to launch in 2024

In addition to outlining his expectations for the iPhone 15 lineup today, Haitong International Securities technology analyst Jeff Pu said Apple could release two notable products in 2024, including the first Apple Watch with a micro-LED display and less expensive AirPods.

Pu said in a research note for investors that the new high-end Apple Watch could feature a larger 2.1-inch micro-LED display, which would boost brightness compared to current Apple Watch models with OLED displays. This model could be a new version of the Apple Watch Ultra, which was launched last September and has a 1.92-inch display.

Pu called the lower-priced AirPods “AirPods Lite,” but it’s unlikely Apple will actually use that name, and the AirPods will be priced lower to better compete with other companies wireless headphones, but he didn’t share any further details. For now, the $129 second-generation AirPods are Apple’s cheapest option.

Pu has a mixed record when it comes to predicting Apple’s future plans, and details of these AirPods and Apple Watch have not been previously rumored, so this information is far from certain. Apple’s plans for its 2024 products could also change over time.
