According to Apple’s official press release, users after upgrading iOS 17 and tvOS 17, any Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K model malfunction, can be restored through a nearby iPhone.
If a black screen appears on the TV, users can unlock their iPhone, bring it near the Apple TV, and follow the screen recovery steps on the iPhone. The Apple TV will restart once the recovery process is complete.
Note: On the Apple TV HD, there is a USB-C port that allows the device to connect to a Mac for recovery; however, there is no USB-C port on the Apple TV 4K model, and Apple officials previously recommended that users contact customer service for recovery. With the introduction of the new iPhone option, users can also manually attempt recovery after encountering a problem.
