Apple tvOS 16.1 Exposed Bug: 128GB New Apple TV Only Recognizes 64GB

A bug in tvOS 16.1 has caused the new Apple TV with 128GB of storage to only recognize 64GB of space. This means that when users use up 64GB of space, they can’t continue to store media or other materials.

Foreign media outlet FlatpanelsHD discovered the problem when it reviewed the new Apple TV, and a number of outlets including MacRumors and MacWorld followed suit.

Once Apple TV uses more than 64GB of storage, the following message appears when users try to download a new app: “This app could not be installed because there is not enough space. Delete one or more apps or manage your storage in Settings.”

According to FlatpanelsHD, this bug is not fixed in the latest beta version of tvOS 16.2. In the meantime, Apple TV users with 128GB storage affected by the bug can try downloading some media sources to confirm if the device also has a 64GB capacity limit.
