Apple CEO Tim Cook said he is “very bullish on India” during an earnings call today.

Apple will boost its retail and manufacturing operations in India. On the retail side, India’s first Apple Store will open soon, and on the manufacturing side, it will continue to drive exports of products like the iPhone.

I’m very bullish on India,” Tim Cook said, adding that Apple’s business in the country has grown rapidly during the new epidemic and has achieved good results on all fronts. Tim Cook said Apple will continue to increase its investment in the Indian market in the future.

Apple is preparing to open its first retail store in India this year, and will open more stores in Mumbai and New Delhi, with information expected to be announced in the coming months.

On the manufacturing front, Apple supplier Jabil Inc. began manufacturing components for AirPods in India, marking a significant step in the U.S. tech giant’s plans to expand production in the country.

Apple became the first Indian company to surpass the $1 billion (currently about RMB 6.78 billion, Rs. 81 billion) smartphone export milestone in a single month in December last year, according to the latest export data, and the company just overtook Samsung as India’s largest smartphone exporter in November last year.
