Apple to accept trade-ins for Mac Studio and M2 MacBook models starting June 5

The WWDC 2023 keynote is expected to bring a slew of new products, and we’ve long heard that Apple will announce new Macs at the event. additional evidence that the technology giant will release new hardware comes from Mark Gurman’s latest tweet that the company will be accepting trade-ins for a variety of current Macs, and that Apple hopes to increase sales in the future, with customers taking the opportunity to upgrade to the larger 15-inch MacBook Air.

During its last earnings call, Apple’s Mac business saw a significant decline, bringing in only $7.2 billion in revenue for the company, down significantly from $10.4 billion in the previous quarter. These disappointing statistics have some commonality with Apple’s upcoming plans posted on Twitter, and also suggest that the larger 15-inch MacBook Air will be announced at the WWDC 2023 keynote. It makes perfect sense for the company to start accepting trade-ins for the M2 MacBook Air and M2 MacBook Pro in exchange for the 15-inch model.

By doing so, customers can save some money and get a larger portable Mac, while also contributing to Apple reaching higher sales goals. However, the addition of Mac Studio makes us even more suspicious, hinting that we could be in for a major surprise. According to Mark Gurman’s tweet, he expects new “Macs” to be announced at WWDC; the word “Macs” is plural, meaning we could see something other than the 15-inch MacBook Air announced during the keynote. Other than the Mac Pro, we don’t have anything in mind yet.

Mark Gurman predicted that Apple will start trading in various Macs, hinting at the arrival of new models

In the past, Mark Gurman has mentioned that AR headsets will be announced at WWDC, but not the Mac Pro. But our gut tells us we could be in for a surprise in the coming days. The Mac Studio is now in an awkward position, as the M2 Pro Mac mini comes with a 12-core CPU and 19-core GPU, which is more powerful in terms of multi-core performance, as well as being more powerful than Apple’s M1 Max models for high-end and compact desktops are cheaper.

Mark Gurman also hinted that there will be multiple models of the 15-inch MacBook Air, just like every Apple product release, so the word “Mac” could mean different configurations as well.
