Apple tightens App Store review policy: Apps calling some APIs need to explain why

0

Apple in order to ensure that the App complies with its guidelines, for the App Store has developed a strict audit process. Apple further tightened the audit policy, if the App calls some APIs, then the developer is required to submit to the App Store a detailed explanation of the reason for calling the API.

Apple recently updated the Apple Developer website to mark some APIs as “Required Reason APIs”.

Developers if you need to call these APIs in the App, then in the review instructions submitted to the App Store, describe in detail the use of the API.

Apple said the primary purpose of enabling this measure is to combat fingerprinting, a technology that tracks users across different apps and websites.

The new rule, which will go into effect in the spring of 2024, will allow Apple to reject an app application if it determines during the review process that the app doesn’t need to call the API.
