The Apple Store at Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood, Washington, USA, was the scene of a burglary over the weekend, with thieves entering through a nearby coffee shop, bypassing the security system and stealing a total of 436 iPhones worth about $500,000 (currently about RMB 3.44 million).
According to Seattle media outlet King 5 News, the two thieves first broke into the coffee shop, called Seattle Coffee Gear, and cut small holes in the lavatory wall to allow people to pass through.
The incident occurred late at night when no Apple Store employees were on duty. The thieves then entered the back door of the Apple Store, bypassed the security system and stole 436 iPhones valued at approximately $500,000.
Seattle Coffee Gear manager Eric Marks said the coffee shop and the Apple Store were not next to each other in terms of frontage, and there were stores in between.
The two thieves were clearly targeted and did not steal anything from the coffee shop, but Marks said it would cost $1,500 to replace the lock and repair the lavatory wall (currently about RMB 10,320).
