Apple starts rolling out Apple Music Classical to select iPhone users

Apple Music Classical, Apple’s classical music app, is scheduled to launch on Tuesday, March 28. According to Twitter users, the app appears to have started rolling out to some iPhone users in some Asian regions like Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.

Apple Music Classical became available for pre-order on the App Store earlier this month. The app offers more than 5 million classical music tracks and is available for free on iOS 15.4 and later with a standard Apple Music subscription.

Apple Music Classical is based on Primephonic, a classical music streaming service acquired by Apple in 2021. The standalone app incorporates Primephonic’s playlists and audio content, search capabilities, metadata and more. The app includes thousands of composer albums, descriptions of important works and more, Apple said.

According to Apple, Apple Music Classical is only available for the iPhone at launch, with an Android version of the app coming soon. The app is currently available in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese and Dutch.

Apple originally planned to launch a classical music app in 2022, but didn’t announce the app until this year. Apple shut down the Primephonic website service in September 2021 and offered subscribers six months of free Apple Music access.

Apple Music classical app is now available in Singapore.
