Apple announced a new policy that will have a big impact on podcast creators. Apple said Apple Podcasts creators will be able to publish subscription content directly on the hosting provider’s platform starting today. Apple said the new policy makes it easier for creators to launch and add shows and subscriptions on Apple Podcasts.

Apple is launching Delegated Delivery in May 2022. People with active Apple Podcast Program memberships can now generate API keys through the Apple Podcast Connect platform. These API keys can be shared with hosting providers so they can publish podcasts on your behalf.

As detailed by Apple, there are currently four different hosting providers that support Apple Podcasts subscriptions. They are

Blubrry

Libsyn

Omny Studio

The company says more providers, including Acast and ART19, will support Apple Podcasts subscriptions later this year, and Apple has created a special page on its website that shows which providers support Podcasts subscriptions. Some creators were invited by their participating hosting providers to try out the new feature last month.

“The automated process makes it incredibly easy for podcasters to publish their premium shows and episodes to Apple Podcasts as part of their standard publishing process,” said Todd Cochrane, CEO of Blubrry Podcasting.

“We look forward to building on our partnership with Apple to simplify podcast publishing for Libsyn’s 75,000+ podcasters,” added John W. Gibbons, President of Libsyn.
