Apple services other than iCloud will stop running on some older iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS systems starting in early May, affecting mostly systems released in late 2017 to early 2018, MacRumors reports.

Beginning in early May, users will not be able to access any Apple services other than iCloud in the following software versions.

summary as follows:

  • From iOS 11 to iOS 11.2.6
  • From macOS 10.13 to macOS 10.13.3
  • From watchOS 4 to watchOS 4.2.3
  • From tvOS 11 to tvOS 11.2.6

In an internal document, Apple said affected users may receive push notifications prompting them to update their devices to the new software version.

Apple did not explain why most of its services will stop supporting older versions of the system, but the move will affect only a small percentage of users. Apple said that as of mid-February, only 8 percent of active iPhones were running iOS 14 or older.

Services offered by Apple include Apple Music, Apple Arcade, Apple TV+, Apple Fitness+, Apple News+ and more.
