Apple reports fiscal Q2 earnings: Total revenue of $94.8 billion down 2.5%

Apple today announced its latest financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2023 (January-March this year), and the overall revenue situation is similar to that of the first quarter.

Apple reported total revenue of $94.8 billion for the second fiscal quarter (currently about RMB 655.068 billion), quarterly net profit of $24.1 billion (currently about 166.531 billion yuan) and diluted earnings per share of $1.52, compared with revenue of $97.3 billion (currently about 672.343 billion yuan) and quarterly net profit of $25.0 billion for the same period last year. Revenue was $97.3 billion (currently about 672.343 billion yuan) and quarterly net income was $25 billion, or $1.52 per diluted share.

Apple’s services revenue reached a new high of $20.9 billion (currently 144.419 billion yuan), while iPhone revenue was $51.3 billion (currently 354.483 billion yuan), also setting a new sales record for the quarter. However, Mac’s revenue was $7.2 billion (currently RMB49.752 billion), a significant decline from $10.4 billion in the same quarter last year.

The gross margin for the quarter was 44.3 percent, compared to 43.7 percent in the same quarter last year. Apple’s board of directors also approved an additional $90 billion in share repurchases and announced an increase in the dividend from $0.23 per share to $0.24 per share. The dividend will be paid on May 18 to shareholders of record as of May 15.

As it has done for the past three years, Apple also did not release earnings guidance for the quarter ending in June.
