Apple releases support files for new Apple Watch Ultra Depth app

0

With the release of the Apple Watch Ultra just around the corner, Apple has shared a support document for the device’s exclusive new Depth app, which is intended for recreational diving and provides information on water temperature, current depth, maximum depth and more. the Apple Watch Ultra can be used for dives up to 40 meters deep.

Apple warns, however, that Depth is not a dive computer and that it cannot provide decompression stop information or gas analysis. In the event that a failure of the Apple Watch Ultra could result in death or personal injury, Apple recommends the use of an auxiliary depth gauge and timer. Apple further recommends that Apple Watch Ultra be used only by trained divers following safety protocols and diving with a buddy.

Support documentation describes how to use the Depth app, which can be set to start automatically whenever the Apple Watch Ultra is submerged in water one meter or deeper. When the Depth app is launched, the Apple Watch Ultra will turn on the water lock to prevent screen activation and the session can be ended by pressing and holding the digital crown.

The Depth app will provide a comprehensive summary of the dive at the end of the dive session and let the user know the length of the dive, water temperature range and maximum depth.

Apple also provided a new support document that outlines everything the new Compass app can do and highlights how to use the backtracking and waypoint features, in addition to information on recommended temperature ranges for various Apple Watch Ultra activities.
