Apple on Monday released the first public beta of iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 8 and tvOS 16 to members of its software testing program. The first public beta of the new software update should be essentially the same as the revised third developer beta, which was also released on Monday.

Interested users can sign up for the Apple Beta Software Program and download the new beta version from the relevant portal.

New features in iOS 16 include a redesigned lock screen, support for widgets and additional customization, the ability to edit or delete iMessages chat entries, and a host of other features such as the Apple Pay Later installment plan.

The build number for the public beta of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 is 20A5312j. The build number for the public beta of watchOS 9 is 20R5316f. The build number for the public beta of tvOS 16 is 20J5328g.

In iPadOS 16, Apple moved its tablet a bit closer to the Mac with the introduction of a feature called Stage Manager, which allows for windowed multitasking control. Apple’s watchOS 9 introduces new faces, a heart rate zone, a medication management app, and other additional fitness and health features.

Comparatively, tvOS 16 is a smaller update, but still includes new features such as additional game controller support, new smart home features, and cross-device compatibility.
