According to the Die Shot provided by the blogger, the M2 Pro has a large core area in the center in red, including 8 large cores and cache, and 4 small cores and caches in green next to it. the lower part of the M2 Pro has a GPU area in blue, with 19 GPU cores. Judging from the layout, the M2 Pro should have a 20-core GPU, but Apple has made it 19 cores, probably for yield improvement purposes. In terms of memory, the M2 Pro still uses LPDDR5 memory, but not the latest LPDDR5x models.

The M2 Pro chip delivers 200GB/s of unified memory bandwidth, two times that of the M2 chip, and up to 32GB of low-latency unified memory.

In terms of performance, Apple says the next-generation 10- or 12-core CPU includes up to eight high-performance cores and four power-efficient cores, making it up to 20 percent faster at multithreading than the M1 Pro chip’s 10-core CPU. Apps like Adobe Photoshop are faster when processing high-intensity workflows, and Xcode compiles up to 2.5 times faster than the MacBook Pro with the fastest Intel processors.

With 19 cores – three more than the M1 Pro chip – and a larger L2 cache, the M2 Pro delivers up to 30 percent faster graphics processing than the M1 Pro chip.

In addition, M2 Pro includes Apple’s next-generation 16-core neural network engine that can perform up to 15.8 trillion operations per second, up to 40 percent faster than its predecessor, and a media processing engine that provides hardware acceleration for codecs including H.264, HEVC and ProRes video, and supports simultaneous playback of multiple 4K or 8K ProRes videos while maintaining extremely low power consumption. All while maintaining extremely low power consumption.
