Apple’s newly announced M2 Pro and M2 Max processors are now on top of the PassMark single-core score list for notebooks.

According to PassMark data, Apple’s 12-core M2 Max is the first in the PassMark notebook single-core performance rankings, the second three are slightly lower frequency M2 Pro models, the fourth is an M2 model, followed by Intel’s 12th generation Core HX series processors.

Intel’s 13th generation Core HX series of gaming notebook processors will be available in February, with the i9-13980HX reaching a frequency of 5.6GHz and expected to surpass the M2 Max as the new top of the list.

According to official data, Apple’s newest flagship processor, the M2 Max chip, has 67 billion transistors integrated inside, 10 billion more than the M1 Max chip and more than three times the size of the M2 chip, pushing the functionality and performance of Apple’s chips even further. Unified memory bandwidth of up to 400GB/s is twice that of the M2 Pro chip and four times that of the M2 chip, and supports up to 96GB of high-speed unified memory.

The M2 Max chip features a next-generation 12-core CPU, the same as the M2 Pro chip. The graphics processor is even more powerful, with 38 cores and a larger L2 cache. Graphics processing speed is up to 30% faster than the M1 Max chip.
