Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max to feature new 48MP Sony camera with larger sensor size

0

The iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature Sony’s latest 48MP custom camera, which is a larger sensor size than last year’s iPhone 14 Pro Max, according to bloggers @digitalgossipstation and @Ice universe.

Last year, Apple made a huge leap forward in camera hardware when it debuted a 48MP camera on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. According to the leak, while the maximum resolution of this year’s new flagship iPhone camera will still be 48 megapixels, Apple will use the more advanced Sony IMX903 48-megapixel sensor, a primary sensor that will be nearly, but not quite, 1 inch in size – 1/1.14 inches – still a little smaller than the sensor in the newly launched Xiaomi 13 Ultra, though It’s still a little smaller than the latest Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s sensor, but a little larger than the 1/1.28-inch of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The change in sensor size means that the iPhone 15 Pro Max could have a larger rear camera bump, and the previously revealed renders of the iPhone 15 Pro do, meaning that the case from last year’s iPhone 14 Pro Max may not be compatible with this year’s flagship model. Of course, having a larger sensor has the inherent benefit of letting more light through to capture more detail even in low-light conditions, and the iPhone 15 Pro range has significantly better primary camera imaging than its predecessor. Combined with the previously rumoured telephoto lens (said to support up to 6x zoom), the new models will offer a very powerful camera system. i
