Apple plans to ship the iPhone 15 series directly from India after its release, the first time in a new iPhone product, marking the gradual progress of Apple’s supply chain in shifting to diversity.

Fruit chain suppliers like Jabil, which previously assembled AirPods cases for Apple and plans to enter the Apple Pencil space in the future, are reportedly already making iPhone 15 cases in India.

Apple’s iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will all continue to be made in China, according to Mark Gurman.

In fact, some of Apple’s Indian suppliers seem to have quality control issues, so Apple is only giving them orders for a small number of models and colours. Earlier this year, the Financial Times reported that only half of the iPhone cases produced by Tata in India were in “good enough condition” to be sent to Foxconn for assembly.
