Apple iPhone 14 suppliers express uncertainty about demand ahead of launch

Suppliers of the upcoming iPhone 14 are said to be uncertain about how much demand there will be for Apple’s upcoming flagship, according to supply chain sources speaking to DigiTimes. A paid preview of the full story, to be published tomorrow, says that “demand for the new model remains uncertain between the end of the fourth quarter and the beginning of the first quarter of 2023.”

Apple and its suppliers have been ramping up parts shipments ahead of mass production expected to begin later this month.

Despite the volatile sentiment among suppliers, Apple still expects the iPhone 14 series to do quite well. Just last week, reports surfaced that Apple had informed suppliers to increase iPhone 14 shipments by 5 percent to 95 million units, higher than the company had initially expected.

One reason suppliers may feel uncertain about demand is the reported price increase for the high-end models in the iPhone 14 series. Reliable Apple industry chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that the iPhone 14 series may see an increase in price, possibly due to the 256GB storage capacity that is starting to be added to both models.

In addition to the possible price increase, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are expected to receive several noteworthy features, including a 48-megapixel camera, a new pill-shaped + round hole screen punching new setting, better performance, and much more.
