Apple iPhone 14 Pro / Max: Ming-Chi Kuo predicts “camera will be ultra-wide angle upgraded to 1.4µm”

Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo just tweeted that he predicts the ultra-wide angle camera on both iPhone 14 Pro models will be upgraded to 1.4µm (vs. 1.0µm on iPhone 13 Pro).

Kuo also said that CIS (image sensor), VCM (voice coil motor), and CCM (camera module) will see large price increases of 70%, 45%, and 40% respectively, while other components will see limited price increases. Sony (CIS), Minebea (VCM first supply), Largan (VCM second supply) and LG Innotek (CCM) are the significant beneficiaries of the ultra-wide angle camera upgrade.

The new ultra-wide-angle camera for the iPhone 13 Pro features a 1/3.4-inch sensor with an f / 1.8 aperture and a unit pixel size of 1.0µm. If the ultra-wide angle camera for the iPhone 14 Pro does get upgraded to 1.4µm, it will hopefully improve the photo quality of that camera, especially in low light conditions.

It’s also worth noting that earlier today Ming-Chi Kuo also reported that Apple is indeed developing satellite communications for the iPhone 14 / Pro series and has completed hardware testing for this feature prior to mass production, but whether or not the iPhone 14 / Pro series supports satellite communications depends on “whether Apple and the carriers can work out the business model. “The problem. Its earlier revelations suggest that Apple’s next-generation A16 chip will be dedicated to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, with the iPhone 14 still equipped with an A15 processor.

Apple’s fall event will be held at 1 a.m. Beijing time on September 8, when the new iPhone 14 series will be officially unveiled.
