According to ETNews, the Samsung Display (SDC) plans to supply about 145 million OLED panels for Samsung Galaxy S22, Apple iPhone14 series and other cell phones in the third quarter of 2022, a decrease of 49 million, or about 25%, compared to the same period in 2021.

Industry insiders believe that, due to the downturn in the smartphone market, it seems difficult for Samsung to achieve the initial target set.

From previous intelligence, Samsung display will supply display panels for Apple iPhone 14, 14 Max, 14 Pro Max, LG display supply iPhone 14 Pro outside the three, BOE may have lost the new machine orders.

Last month a Korean media said that Samsung Display will complete OLED orders for Apple later this year, shipping about 80 million iPhone 14 series OLED panels, of which iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max shipped about 38 million.

In addition to Apple iPhone 14 series, some other cell phone manufacturers are also big customers of Samsung Display, both Samsung Electronics and domestic manufacturers, will launch a series of new machines in the second half of this year.

Industry sources said, “Samsung Display expects to ship 200 million pieces of small and medium-sized OLEDs in the third quarter, but smartphone OLED shipments are slowing down.”

Samsung Display plans to increase the utilization of its Asan plant in Chungcheongnam-do to supply small and medium-sized OLED panels for Apple’s iPhone 14.

It is reported that the A2 and A3 lines at the Chungnam plant will increase their capacity by more than 90 percent from this month. A2 and A3 lines produce small and medium-sized OLEDs for smartphones.

According to market research firm Omdia, Samsung Display reportedly captured 64.5 percent of the small and medium OLED display market in the first quarter.
