Apple iPadOS 16 Officially Announced for Push on October 25, New Features Coming

0

Apple has announced that iPadOS 16 will launch on Oct. 24, with Beijing time expected to be early Oct. 25, for all compatible iPad models, and will bring features like weather apps and desktop scheduling to older iPad users.

iPadOS 16 brings major updates to the Messages App, new tools in Mail and Safari, a new Weather App, live text in images and video and more ways to interact, plus a variety of powerful productivity features to further enhance the iPad Pro experience.

Front Desk Scheduling brings a new multitasking experience that automatically organises apps and windows to make it easier to switch between tasks quickly.

With support for external displays, which will not be available on 25 October and will officially be available “later this year”, Front Desk Scheduler supports resolutions up to 6K, allowing users to organise their workspace in an ideal way, with up to four apps running on each iPad and external display.

The Desktop App brings a range of new features optimised for the iPad Pro display, making the App even more powerful with new elements and new interaction modes, including system-wide Undo and Redo, a redesigned Find and Replace experience, a new version of the Documents menu, customisable toolbars, the ability to change file extensions and view folder sizes in the Files App.

With Reference Mode, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro with Liquid Retina XDR display meets the requirements of workflows that require high levels of colour accuracy and uniform image quality, such as review and approval, colour correction and compositing. This means that pro-level users such as photographers and videographers can edit HDR images and videos in all their lifelike detail on a device they can hold in their hands, while cinematographers on set can preview content in the same colour profile as the final film.

Apple iPadOS 16 is compatible with iPad (5th generation and later), iPad mini (5th generation and later), iPad Air (3rd generation and later), and all iPad Pro models.
