Apple iOS and iPadOS 16 will get five new features during the year

Apple released the iOS 16.1 update, the first major update to the iOS 16 operating system since its public release, as well as the iPadOS 16 release.

Both updates bring many features to Apple iPhone and iPad users, but according to Apple’s official instructions, there are still five features that will be delayed until the end of the year.

iPadOS 16: external display support
One of the signature features of Apple’s iPadOS 16 is Tabletop Scheduler, but Tabletop Scheduler support for external displays has been delayed until later in 2022. This feature supports resolutions up to 6K, allowing users to organize their workspace in an ideal way, running up to four apps each on iPad and the external display at the same time.

Play games together with SharePlay
SharePlay on Apple iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 will receive a new feature later this year that will enable users to use SharePlay to play games with friends and family over FaceTime.

This feature is available for games with Game Center integration and multiplayer support. In iOS 16 and iPad 16, Apple has extended SharePlay to be built into apps such as iMessage.

Infinity Notes
Apple will launch Freeform, a productivity app that allows users to write, draw, jot down inspiration or add anything they need, later this year. iPadOS and macOS.

SOS via satellite
Exclusive to Apple’s iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro series, emergency SOS via satellite will be available in November, enabling users to make emergency SOS calls via satellite communications on iPhone. Emergency SOS via satellite will initially only be available in the US and Canada and will be free to users for the first two years, with pricing not yet announced thereafter.

Apple Music Classical
In August 2021, Apple acquired Primephonic, a streaming service focused on classical music, and in that announcement, Apple said it would release a dedicated Apple Music Classical app designed and tailored specifically for classical music in 2022.
