Apple debuted the new cross-platform Freeform (Infinity Notes) app in iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2, designed to allow iPhone, iPad and Mac users to work together in real-time to take notes, sketch, draw, brainstorm and more, helping multiple people work on the same document, with updates from all participants synced in real-time.

The update also brings external monitor support for front-desk scheduling multitasking, allowing up to eight apps to be used simultaneously. Also, M1 and M2 iPad models can now already support external monitor use.

In addition, a new home app architecture is available in iOS and iPadOS 16.2. To install the architecture update, users need a device running iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, or macOS Ventura 13.1, and the HomePod 16.2 beta software.

In iOS 16.2, you’ll also be able to report emergency SOS calls to Apple, there’s a new sleep widget, the return of live sports scores for the TV app, and more. iOS 16.2 is expected to be released in mid-December, so stay tuned.
