As the fall launch approaches, today Apple launched the seventh beta version of iOS 16, iOS 16 Beta 7, version number 20A5356a. The first six rounds of beta updates were on June 6, June 22, July 6, July 27, August 8, and August 15.

As you can see, in the first few weeks, the update cycle of iOS 16 developer beta has changed from the original two weeks to one week, which means that iOS 16 is not far from the users.

Apple completed development of iOS 16 last week, and it will be unveiled at Apple’s fall event along with the iPhone 14 series, according to people familiar with the matter.

Meanwhile, today Apple also launched the first beta of iPadOS 16.1, version 20B5027f. The update will be known as “iPadOS 16” beta 7, but after it’s complete, it will appear as iPadOS 16.1.

Previously, the two operating systems shared the same internal version number, with the sixth iteration having internal version number 20A5349b.

The splitting of the beta is likely due to the fact that the new iPhone and iPad will be released in different months. iPhone 14 is expected to be released in September, while the iPad product update is expected to be released in October.
