Apple introduced Peer group benchmarks for developers in App Analytics on Wednesday. Developers will be able to compare the performance of their apps with similar apps on the App Store.

The official description of the tool is as follows:

App Store Connect’s App Analytics is a useful tool that provides a wealth of features to help you understand and improve the performance of your App in the App Store. With metrics related to customer acquisition, usage, and monetization strategies, you can monitor results at all stages of the customer lifecycle (from awareness to conversion to retention) with App Analytics.

Peer group benchmarking metrics compare your App’s performance to similar apps in the App Store and starting today, you can use this feature to measure the App’s performance in effective contexts. Now you’ll gain more insights and identify business growth opportunities more effectively.

Peer group benchmarking metrics will provide unique and useful new insights throughout the customer journey, helping you to more accurately understand where your App is performing well and find ways to improve. The system assigns apps to different peer groups based on their App Store category, business model, and downloads to ensure that comparative data is relevant. In addition, peer group benchmark metrics use industry-leading differential privacy technology to provide relevant and actionable insights while ensuring the privacy of individual app performance.

See the new benchmark metrics data and then take advantage of additional tools in App Store Connect to improve conversion rates, revenue, crashes, and user retention. You can test different elements on product pages to find what resonates most with users, create additional versions of product pages to highlight specific features or content, get feedback on beta apps, offer in-app events to encourage engagement, and more.
