Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman held a Q&A about the Apple car. He revealed that the chip performance of the car will be equivalent to the combined performance of four M2 Ultras. He also said the car will have an underlying “security operating system” that is part of the overall operating system, but he did not elaborate.

In addition, Gurman also briefly mentioned several other topics, including the fact that Apple has just begun “official development” of a new MacBook Pro equipped with M4 chips. However, he did not provide any details about the M4 chip.

Apple released the M1 chip for Mac in November 2020, then launched the M2 chip in June 2022, and then launched the M3 chip at the end of October 2023. Therefore, it can be seen that there is approximately one year between each generation of Apple Silicon half the time. If this pattern continues, the M4 chip is expected to be released in the first half of 2025.

Referring to previous reports, Apple last updated the MacBook Pro series in October last year, including three models of M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max chips. Apple, of course, also discontinued the 13-inch MacBook Pro and replaced it with a new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M3 chip. In addition, Apple has also updated the M3 chip versions of iMac and MacBook Air, leaving only Mac mini, Mac Studio and Mac Pro still equipped with M2 series chips.
