Apple has cut iPhone 14 Plus production, sources say

The latest report claims that Apple has cut production of the iPhone 14 Plus. iPhone 14 series comes in four models featuring display sizes and category features. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are virtually identical, except for the display size.

Citing The Infomation, two supply chain sources have hinted that Apple is cutting back production of the iPhone 14 Plus. One source said that at least one Chinese manufacturer has been told to stop making iPhone 14 Plus components while Apple’s procurement team reassesses demand for the product.

In addition, two Chinese downstream suppliers that assemble parts into larger modules have cut production by 70 percent and 90 percent, respectively. Another person said that Apple has asked at least one manufacturer to increase production of iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max parts, but this does not mean that production of iPhone 14 Plus parts will be reduced.

However, Apple’s iPhone supply chain is large and complex, so the view from a single source or manufacturer may not reflect the overall picture, and Tim Cook is on record as saying the same thing. While one manufacturer may see a reduction in production, another may see an increase in production.
