A launcher app in the Google Play store designed to recreate the iOS experience on Android smartphones has been downloaded more than 50 million times and now brings changes and feature updates similar to the iOS 16 design.

The app is not new to the Google Play store and has been rebuilding the iOS experience on Android for the past three years. Starting with iOS 13 and every major iOS release since, the app has been updated and conformed to the latest iOS theme design.

The launcher app, called Launcher iOS 16, mimics iOS and recreates the iOS home screen, Dock, Force Touch menus on apps, “jitter mode,” app libraries, iOS style widgets, and more. The launcher also replaces app icons with iOS icons, such as Messages, Notes, Camera, and even the Google Play Store with Apple App Store icons.

Among the standard Android features, the launcher provides users with many customization features that are not available on the iPhone, such as the ability to customize the categories of apps in the app library, adjust the home screen animation, easily rename apps, and more.

The Android launcher has received a new wave of attention with the update that mimics the iOS 16 theme. iOS 16’s biggest change is the redesigned lock screen, and the new lock screen may prompt Android users interested in trying out Apple’s latest design to download “Launcher iOS 16,” although the launcher does not currently support a lock screen similar to iOS 16 lock screen.

Android launchers are programs that can be run on a device’s home screen with their own design, personalized features and settings beyond the options provided by the device’s original manufacturer. In fact, there are numerous launchers in the Google Play store that promise to recreate the iOS experience on Android, with the majority of them already having over 1 million downloads.
