Before it goes on sale next week, the exposure of various benchmarks of AMD Zen 4 Ryzen 9-7950X flagship AM5 desktop processor has also become intensive. After earning its first 10/10 rating from SiSoftware, the R9-7950X now breaks four more benchmark records. Hot Hardware quoted the company’s XOC team’s overclocking data as saying that it achieved an all-core 5.5 GHz frequency with a standard 280 mm water-cooled radiator, and shared the following benchmark data.

First, in the Cinebench R23 benchmark project, the 5.4 GHz R9-7950X ran a multi-threaded performance score of 40798 on the platform of the ASRock X670E Taichi motherboard + 32GB Kingston DDR5 memory.

Secondly, in the Cinebench R20 benchmark test project, the 5.35 GHz R9-7950X processor scored 15771 points on the X670E AORUS Master motherboard + G.S.C. 32GB DDR5 memory platform.

Then in the Cinebench R15 benchmark project, the 5.5 GHz R9-7950X processor threw 6900 points on the Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Hero motherboard + G.SKILL 16GB DDR5 memory platform.

Finally, in the 7-Zip benchmark test project, the 5.45 GHz R9-7950X processor threw a MIPS score of 228,992 points on the MSI MEG X670 ACE motherboard + Corsair 32GB DDR5 memory platform.

To sum up, at an all-core OC 5.5 GHz, the Zen 4 Ryzen R9-7950X is faster than the all-core overclocked 6.0 GHz Zen 3 Ryzen R9-5950X—meaning the IPC architecture is improved by 13-14 % .

Even though the CPU hit 108°C during the benchmark, it was still within the TjMax limit of 115°C. However, if you want to ensure stable operation for a long time, it is recommended that you switch to a higher-end cooling solution.

As a 16C/32T processor, the R9-7950X has a nominal 4.5 GHz boost frequency up to 5.7 GHz (5.85 GHz F-Max) and is priced at $699.

In comparison, the Intel 12th Gen Alder Lake Core i9-12900KS is 200 MHz lower (single-core turbo up to 5.5 GHz).

Finally, AMD Ryzen 7000 series AM5 desktop processors and matching 600 series motherboards will officially go on sale on September 27.
