MSI did not release a new product at the end of last year when the AMD RX 7900 series debuted, which caused speculation that MSI was abandoning AMD graphics cards. Now, MSI finally showed the RX 7900 series Magic Dragon graphics card at CES 2023.

According to TechPowerUp, MSI’s graphics cards in this series are the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT Gaming Trio Classic, which use the Tri Frozr 2.0 cooling solution from the previous generation of cards (RX 6000 series and RTX 30 series), instead of the latest Tri Frozr 3.0 cooling solution introduced with the RTX 40 series. Tri Frozr 3.0 cooling solution was introduced with the RTX 40 series.

This cooling solution meets the cooling requirements of older flagship cards such as the RX 6950 XT or RTX 3090, and MSI probably thought it would also meet the cooling requirements of the RX 7900 series, so it did not use the latest cooling solution.

In addition, MSI’s RX 7900 series features a new custom-designed PCB with three 8-pin PCIe power connectors.

At this time, MSI has not yet announced the price and availability of the new RX 7900 series graphics cards.
