The AMD R7 7840U processor is the first of its kind in the world.

First, AMD compared the R7 7840U with 8 cores and 16 threads up to 5.1GHz with Intel’s i7-1360P with 4 large cores + 8 small cores up to 5.0GHz. The data shows that the R7 7840U is ahead of the i7-1360P in five areas, including productivity, media encoding, and content creation.

In terms of core gaming performance, the R7 7840U’s 780M core is fully ahead of the i7-1360P’s 96EU core, with a 139% lead in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p low quality.

AMD also compared the R7 7840U with Apple’s latest M2 processor. The difference between the two processors in terms of web browsing, image editing, and 3D rendering is small, but the R7 7840U has a 70%+ lead in multitasking and PassMark 10 scores.

AMD has not yet announced when the R7 7840U powered devices will be available. It is expected that the R7 7840U will be mainly used in notebooks and handhelds that are mainly thin and light.
