AMD pitted its newest Laptop flagship processor, the R9 7940HS, against rivals from Intel and Apple at today’s event.
As shown in the figure above, in Cinebench’s multi-threaded running test, the 8-core 16-thread R9 7940HS scored 34% ahead of the 14-core 20-thread i7-1280P, and also ahead of the 10-core 10-thread Apple M1 Pro. In the AI performance test, the R9 7940HS with the latest Ryzen AI engine leads Apple’s latest M2 by 20%. In terms of gaming performance, the R9 7940HS leads the i7-1280P by 21%.
AMD R9 7940HS uses a 4nm process, uses an 8-core Zen4 CPU, and is equipped with the latest Ryzen AI engine. The CPU frequency can reach 5.2GHz, with a 40MB cache. The core display is 12CU RDNA3, the core display frequency is up to 3GHz, and the TDP is 35- 45W.

- R9 7940HS: 8 cores 16 threads, up to 5.2GHz, 40MB cache, 35-45W TDP
- R7 7840HS: 8 cores 16 threads, up to 5.1GHz, 40MB cache, 35-45W TDP
- R5 7640HS: 6 cores 12 threads, up to 5.0GHz, 38MB cache, 35-45W TDP
Notebooks powered by Ryzen 7040 HS series processors will be available in March 2023.
