This is part of the second wave of massive layoffs at Amazon. The company submitted layoff notices to the three states in the last two weeks, as required by law.

The documents show that 2,320 Amazon employees were laid off in Bellevue and Seattle, Washington, with an effective date of March 19. 504 Amazon employees were laid off at various locations in four California cities, also with an effective date of March 19, with most of the laid-off employees in the Silicon Valley town of Sunnyvale. In New York, 299 Amazon employees were laid off at various locations, effective April 18.

Earlier this month, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said the company would lay off 18,000 employees worldwide, a further cut on top of the 10,000 job cuts announced last November.
