All e-trons must have a Sportback version; a new Q6 variant revealed through spy photos

Spy photos of Audi’s Q6 e-tron have been revealed and unlike the earlier pics, these ones show a newer variant of the car. Though draped heavily in a black covering, one can make out a sloping rear roofline that suggests that the company is working on a Q6 e-tron Sportback version even while it is toiling hard to bring the Q6 e-tron to the markets. It certainly makes perfect sense as both e-tron and the Q4 e-tron got to have Sportback variants.

Q6 e-tron Sportback: Glimpses from underneath the drapings

While there is a gap in the covering to reveal the windshield, a thin strip of covering in the center of the windshield gives an impression as if the car is wearing googles. There’s also a flap open on the side that shows the car’s flank. It seems that underneath the concealment is a full, production-sped body. The Sportback variant seems to carry at the front the same nose as in the standard model. But instead of the conventional grille, the car has a panel with an embossed fake mesh pattern. It appears that it sports the same two-tier lighting system at the front as the Q6 e-tron, the actual headlights positioned inferior to the daytime running lights.

Like the standard version, this variant too would most likely utilize the Premium Platform Electric (PPE). This is the same platform that the brand shares with Porsche. No details have come out yet on the powertrain, though we expect single- and dual-motor layouts. Given the work that is going on with the Q6 e-tron, it seems likely that the car would be revealed later this year. And now that the Q6, too, has a Sportback version, this newer variant would soon be unveiled after the standard one does.
