After more than 2 years on the market, Microsoft may have given up on Surface Earbuds

0

The TWS headphones have been online for more than 2 years and are currently priced at 1,588 CNY in the Microsoft China Store, with both glacier white and graphite gray colors showing out of stock.

Microsoft launched the Surface Earbuds just in time for the global wave of major manufacturers to launch their own headphones, but compared to other friendly products, the headphones are significantly more expensive and uncompetitive.

Typically, wearable products receive multiple firmware updates over the life of the product, providing users with richer features and fixing known bugs through firmware updates.

But the Surface Earbuds have been in limbo since their launch, and the Surface Earbuds last received an update in September 2020. The first firmware update for the Surface Earbuds was in May 2020, and a second update was released in September of that year after a new graphite gray color was introduced. But Microsoft hasn’t released an update since.

But that doesn’t mean Surface Earbuds are mature enough or don’t need further optimization. Microsoft Surface Earbuds currently known problems include.

Hissing noise from the headphones when playing audio

Out-of-sync audio between the left and right headphones

Long latency between the headphones and connected devices

Bluetooth connectivity issues in crowded areas

Only one headset in the charging case cannot be charged

The headset does not charge when the battery runs out
