Months after the Rivian R1T went on sale, several employees were spotted driving the R1S, but this week a non-employee shared the new R1S SUV, which uses the same design language as the R1T, but offers a third row of seats and an enclosed rear end, and is shorter in overall length and wheelbase than the R1T. The first R1S was to be delivered in December but was delivered to CEO RJ Scaringe and CFO Claire McDonough. In June, Rivian said that customer delivery of the R1S could start as early as August, so it looks like they’ve just hit that timeline. Although this is a delay from an earlier schedule – last November, the earliest R1S delivery window was around March to April.
