Aug. 2 (Xinhua) — ZTE Corporation said today in response to investor questions that 6G, the future evolution technology for mobile communications, is still in the early stages of proposing a vision, identifying key requirements, conducting technical research and defining a vision. ZTE said the company attaches importance to technology innovation, and actively exploring and laying out future technologies is an important task for the company, which has initiated research on key 6G technologies while conducting exchanges and cooperation with industry peers.
In terms of key technologies, there is a strong inheritance relationship between 6G and 5G. 6G will be a continuous smooth evolution of 5G and 5G Advanced based on a long-standing paradigm of industry innovation that has been highly successful, so the company’s long-established technological advantage in 5G can largely be carried over to 6G.
CCTV Finance previously reported that experts introduced that, at present, 5G has been officially commercialized in China for 3 years, and the number of 5G cell phone users exceeds 400 million. According to the law that mobile communication technology updates a generation every 10 years or so, 6G is expected to be commercially available around 2030.
It is reported that the world’s first 6G white paper, “Key Drivers and Research Challenges for 6G Wireless Intelligence Everywhere,” was released in 2019.
The white paper states that most performance metrics of 6G will improve by 10 to 100 times compared to 5G. In the 6G era, it becomes possible to download 10 HD videos of the same type in 1 second.
