13th Gen Core cheaper, Intel continues to polish the 10nm process to let the cost drop 8% again

In 2021, Intel announced that the production of its 10nm process surpassed 14nm to become the main force of shipments, while the process cost was significantly reduced by 45%, laying the foundation for mass production, Intel is also continuing to polish the 10nm process in the past few years, and now the 10nm process cost is 8% lower than a year ago.

At last week’s earnings meeting, Intel mentioned the progress of several of its processes, with CEO Kissinger confirming an 8% reduction in the unit cost of the 10nm process – the 10nm in question here should be Intel 7, the 10nm ESF-enhanced version of the process that the 12th generation Core began using.

According to Intel, processors produced by the Intel 7 process have shipped more than 35 million.

In addition, the upcoming 13-generation Core Raptor Lake will also use Intel 7 process, as Intel polishing more and more mature, it will not only upgrade 24 cores and 32 threads, the frequency will also be a record high, 5.5GHz acceleration frequency is not a matter, the limit should be able to hit 5.7GHz or even 5.8GHz, which is also the result of process optimization.

If we add the advantage of 8% cost reduction, the 13th generation Core should be cheaper and more competitive in theory.
