ZTE has announced the launch of W217, a smart wearable solution with cellular communication capabilities that can be applied to children’s watches, student cards, adult cellular watches and other categories.
The W217 is an ultra-highly integrated, single-chip platform that integrates communication, RF, power, location, Wi-Fi and other common functions of wearable devices, with Flash and PSRAM encapsulated inside the chip to achieve an all-in-one single-chip platform solution.
The W217 chip adopts Open CPU architecture, and AP and CP work independently, with small size, thin thickness, ultra-low power consumption and high integrity, providing more flexible design space for terminal products. It supports VoLTE HD voice, eSIM standalone calls and other functions.
W217 adopts a 22nm LP process to further reduce the power consumption of the small-sized chip, and the modem of W217 adopts low-power intelligent network search optimization strategy and remote RRC (Radio Resource Control) technology to dynamically adjust the power consumption of the modem for longer battery life.
The W217 supports multi-level ultra-low power consumption mode, and the standby power consumption is 1.5uA at the lowest power consumption level, which can be used for more than 5 days for children’s watches and 7-14 days for adults’ watches.
So far, ZTE has joined hands with application vendors such as Ali Cloud, Xiaodu and Himalaya to introduce a variety of applications on the wearable RTOS platform, including social, mobile payment, audio and video, dial, positioning, storage, map navigation, taxi travel and voice assistant.
W217 security supports Arm TrustZone technology, ensuring that software under normal operation cannot directly access data in the security zone.
